Tucson Doula Co-op
Sponsored by Desert Doula Birth & Postpartum Services
Tucson Doula Co-Op meetings are held on the first
Thursday of the scheduled months. Meetings start at 12PM.
Bring a brown bag lunch! Please note there will be NO meeting in
August.
If you are
interested in attending the next Doula Co-Op meeting, please call us at
749-0329 for the date/time/location of the meeting.
We are in the process of finding some interesting speakers for the
Co-op meetings, so please plan on coming, so we can see familiar and some
new faces. These meetings are great opportunities for all of us to learn
new information about maternal child health issues and to network with
other like-minded colleagues.
If you would like to suggest a speaker or a topic please call us at
749-0329.
Tucson Doula Co-Op History and Vision:
The Tucson Doula Co-op was created in the Fall of 2002. As our
childbirth support community was growing a distinction needed to be made
between practicing doulas and non-practicing doulas. It was important
for those of us at Desert Doula Birth and Postpartum Services, and in
particular those on the on-call calendar to keep our work and
credibility under our supervision. But realizing we needed the support
of our founding members who no longer do births, of independent doulas,
of doctors, midwives, of the whole birthing community or anyone willing
and able to believe in our mission "a doula for any mother who wants
one", the Tucson Doula Co-op was born.
The meetings are usually held on the 1st
Thursday of every other month. Please call our central number (749-0329)
for details. The meetings are open to anyone who has paid their
membership dues.
Please join the Tucson Doula Co-op and be a part of this great
supportive environment! Not only do we offer support to families and
women in labor, but we support each other through all the ups and downs
of our work!
